One of the most diverse pieces of training equipment a Personal Trainer can utilise in client training plans. The Kettlebell first appeared in the Russian dictionary in 1704. Popularised in Russia, kettlebell lifting became a national sport for the country. In today’s global fitness market, Kettlebells have become a phenomenon, commonly used by Personal Trainers and Group Exercise trainers.
Incorporating Kettlebells into your client training programs can Challenge strength, stamina, flexibility, endurance, and power. The Kettlebell allows much more fluid movement than it’s alternatives, providing very functional movement patterns the body naturally moves in.
Decreased Body Fat
A common fitness goal for both men and women is reducing body fat. Now we know that we cannot burn fat from specific areas but we can reduce body fat in total. Kettlebells are excellent HIIT training tools that will allow high rep routines that challenge the body and burn a high number of calories. This is all down to the increased recruitment of muscle fibres from the muscular system and the movements created. Through high rep Kettlebell routines we can achieve fat loss while building a lean physique for our clients.
Enhanced Cardiovascular Fitness
The nature of high rep, longer duration workouts will naturally improve the cardiovascular system. Specific energy systems can be challenged using FITT principles and the development of intervals as you would on other cardiovascular equipment. Popular ways to complete long duration routines are through reps or time. Try using Tabatta intervals for a high intensity short duration workout, Complete 8 reps of 20:10 (seconds) to complete a 4-minute set.
Strong is the New Skinny
A popular trend in the industry growing from the millennial generation and handed to generations Z and X, female clients are looking to build strong lean physiques over skinny or thin physiques. kettlebells can be manipulated for fluid, dynamic movements by using a swing movement. These movements develop strength while burning fat. The increased muscular activation promotes the development of the neuromuscular system for improved muscular function, flexibility, and tone. Removing the swing and being strict with the movements like, the goblet squat, will provide local muscular fatigue in the lower body while challenging the core musculature of the torso. This results in whole body muscular recruitment that stimulates lean tissue development and muscle tone.
Time Efficient
With many commitments, women are juggling careers, family, and social arrangements. Gyms can be busy in periods before work, at lunch, or after work. As a personal trainer you need to get results for your female client and if all the equipment is busy, the Kettlebell rack provides a complete workout without moving form the space of a single floor mat. A great time saving tool for you as a trainer and your client, other members will also be watching you with your client, an excellent marketing opportunity to help you grow your business too!
Stress Buster
Busy female clients are not immune to the stresses of life that can cause frustration, anger, and work related stress. Like boxing, Kettlbells can help alleviate work related aggression and stress. Give your female client a power routine based on swing cleans, snatches, and squats, an you’ll help your client de- stress and forget the daily grind by focusing on movements that require concentration to acquire and complete skill based movements.
Learning new skills as a Personal Trainer is important for client retention and business development. Just like an accountant learning how to use new accounting software to support clients who use the system, personal trainers must learn new exercises with interesting equipment to meet the demands of today’s client base.
